In his role as a member of the AdsML Technical Working Group, Jay will present the current release of the AdsML Framework to the September meeting of the Digital Ad Lab UK. An overview of the benefits offered by AdsML will be given, including the guiding principles that motivated its design, the functionality that the AdsML specifications provide, and the cost savings that can be realised by using AdsML to enable digital workflows and b2b transactions.

Business Integration Consultancy (BIC) will rebrand to ‘Aredian’ in 2010.

The original name will be kept as a tagline describing the services Aredian provides.

The change will take effect in April 2010.

Book chapter published in ‘Semantic Web for Business’

A description and explanation of the technical solution used by the MYCAREVENT project to provide a single point of access to automotive repair information has just been published in a new book focusing on the application of Semantic Web technologies to solve business problems. The chapter, co-authored by Jay Cousins and Martin Bryan, explains how the EC research project developed a web-based portal that allowed users to search and retrieve content made available from multiple sources in different languages and formats. The MYCAREVENT technical solution levered Semantic Web technologies as part of a Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) architecture, using an integrated vocabulary to facilitate targeted search, description, and discovery of information, allowing the MYCAREVENT users to iteratively refine their search to retrieve the required repair information.The technical solution used by MYCAREVENT is described in the chapter ‘Applying Semantic Web Technologies to Car Repairs’ in the book Semantic Web for Business: Cases and Applications, edited by Roberto García of the Universitat de Lleida, Spain. The book is published by the Information Science Reference imprint of IGI Global in October 2008.

I have now begun a freelance career and I am trading as Business Integration Consultancy (BIC). I will also work with RivCom as an Associate.

BIC will work in the area of business and data integration, focusing on:

Designing and applying XML messaging and B2B e-Commerce frameworks and data models to support integration and process automation within and across company boundaries
Semantics and knowledge representation – generic process models, ontology based data integration, semantic interoperability, and,
Enterprise data management – using ISO/IEC 11179 Metadata Registries (MDR) and developing integration data models.
