Jay Cousins

Jay specializes in XML and Semantic Web technologies, working in business analysis, information modelling, b2b e-commerce, and the development of XML-based architectures for data interchange and industry standardization. He has experience in the news & media, oil & gas, health, and automotive sectors.

Jay has participated in various standardization initiatives throughout his career, including:

  • AdsML Technical Working Group – joint technical lead 2003-present. (Vice Chair of the TWG from 2003-2008)
  • Consultant advising and assisting the International Press and Telecommunications Council (IPTC) in the XML implementation of the next generation news exchange standards (IPTC G2-Standards) (2004-2007)
  • Chair of the CEN/ISSS Workshop on Modelling for Automotive Repair Information applications (WS/IMA) (2007-2008)
  • CSW Group representative on the UK Government Schema Group advising Cabinet Office, e-Government Unit on XML Schema in the e-GIF (2004-2008).

Jay has contributed chapters to the ‘XML Meta Data’ (2001) and ‘Java XML’ (2001) books from WROX press and to the ‘Semantic Web Methodologies for E-Business Applications: Ontologies, Processes and Management Practices’ (2008) book from IGI Publishing.
